Critic Review: Earthy red fruit aromas are light and airy more than dense and
concentrated. On the palate, this Garnacha is jumpy and a bit scratchy.
Plum and berry flavors are brash, while there's some heat to the finish
of this lighter-bodied Rioja. - Michael Schachner
Wine Folly: page 117, The Grenache descriptors: Stewed strawberry, grilled plum, leather, blood orange, and dried herbs. I definitely got the strawberry from both the aroma and taste of the wine!
page 118, Notes from the Spanish region: I caught the notes of the raspberry but could not smell or taste the herbs and grapefruit that the book states.
My Review: Tasty!! The strong aromas of strawberry, raspberry, and some spice hit me right away. It was quite dry and left a very warm finish. My guess is that the higher alcohol is responsible for that warmth, which did make for a lovely finish! It was a very smooth drinking experience and I will definitely be drinking this again and would recommend!
I did not pair with any food.
